The Yorkshire Wolds is the country of the once notorious highwayman Dick Tupin.
It is a special landscape, with a wealth of heritage, a place to unwind, relax and enjoy the dry farmed valleys full of sheep and cattle, a peaceful landscape where time is all but forgotten. A place to find England’s most famous medieval village at Wharram Percy, deserted since about 1500.
The ancient market town of Beverley with its 13th century gothic Minster celebrate many events that include Literature, Jazz, Folk and Early music. Beverley hosts Yorkshires Japanese festival of ancient imperial music and dance “Gagaku”. And with Christmas and Victorian markets Beverley has gained the reputation of being the Festival town for the region. For those who like to amble from town to town then The Yorkshire Wolds Way starting in Hessle in the south and travels to Filey in the north is a national trail designed just for you.
For many people a weekend break or a long weekend is the popular way to enjoy the Yorkshire Wolds towns and villages, throughout this website you will find information on places to visit, tourist attractions, recreational activities, travel advise and if required accommodation in the location of your choice.
